Director / Leigh Hodgkinson
|
Leigh Hodgkinson is an experienced director, animator and children's book author and illustrator. She fuses a hand-made aesthetic with a cut-out multimedia technique to create texturous, colourful worlds populated by bizarre yet appealing characters. Her work has been screened all over the globe in film festivals, and has been garlanded many times. Films such as Moo(n) and Stalk showcase her faery tale narratives and a certain leaning towards the dark and surreal, whilst Flighty and Side Dish show a funny and playful side. Since winning the British Animation Awards student prize for her National Film and Television School short 'Novelty', Leigh has also picked up first prizes at Depict! (for Flighty), an Annecy Crystal (for Fonejacker) and awards at Pisaf, Winterthur and Creteil. Meanwhile, Leigh's picture books are populating bookshelves everywhere with titles including 'Colin & the Snoozebox' and 'Smile'. You can see more about those at Beakus' sister site www.littlebeak.com, our children's wing!
