Director Matthias Hoegg created this beautiful and cute clip for CBeebies, to show on the run up to Christmas – twice a day from 12th December till 2nd January. It’s the 6th seasonal clip we’ve made for the channel, and they are turning in to a fantastic series. This Christmas tale is about Bella and how she prepares for the big day, decorating the tree and preparing her oversized stocking… Oh, and asking Santa for Peace…! The soon to be released animated feature film 'A Liar's Autobiography' has been a major project here at Beakus' studio in London. We have created 10 minutes of the film which is derived from the autobiography of Monty Python's Graham Chapman, and will be screening on American TV in early 2012, before getting a cinema release here in the UK.

Two directors – Matthias Hoegg and Dan Chester – helmed two teams to put the animation together in 2D and 3D, with the final footage being composited for 3D stereoscopic projection. Sadly it's all tightly under the production companies hat at the moment so we can't show you much but for a bunch of stills taken from our work-in-progress.

But we are dead excited by the imminent release. Our section is voiced, posthumously, by Graham himself and also by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones. We follow Graham as he tries to negotiate heady days in Hollywood, full of excess and star inanity.

Running between programmes right through Summer on CBeebies is this ident by Matthias Hoegg. After producing some beautiful idents in Spring for CBeebies we were asked to interpret young Sam's Summertime adventures by the sea which take him on a magical boat ride in the clouds.. Working to the pre-determined soundtrack of an interview with little Sam gave us a structure upon which to visualise his watery world and add our own imagination. Drops morph into various aquatic lifeforms on their way through the watercycle in this elegaic hand-drawn animation by Matthias Hoegg. The film was awarded 1st Place for Screen-based Design at the Norwegian Association for Visual Communication, 'Grafill', in 2006.

Matthias Hoegg's elegant, subtle and poetic short 'August' drops us in a caravan park where ants busy themselves beneath boozed-up sun-worshippers and reddened hedonists. The two worlds reflect one another as all the while the summertime passes slowly. Hoegg's stylistic use of 2D and 3D design, his strong, structured framing, and sumptuous colouring, add up to a compelling watch. We present a clip below.
